GIORGOS KATSAGGELOS

George Katsangelos, one of the most important Greek living photographers, presents photographs taken over a long period of time, ie from 1985 – 2008. The exhibition, whose main theme is man, covers images that were included in the thematic sections he presented during times the artist. Images from the INFANTRY (images from the army), SILENCE (images from the psychiatric hospital), the RELIGIOUS (images of cult and ethnographic content) are exhibited in detail.

George Katsangelos studied photography with a scholarship at BROOKLYN COLLEGE in New York. His teacher is Walter Rosenblum. He is an Associate Professor at the Department of Fine and Applied Arts of the School of Fine Arts of AUTh. He was the President of the Museum of Photography of Thessaloniki from 1996-1998 and the Director of the Cinema Museum of Thessaloniki from 2002-2005. Since September 2006 he has been the Dean of the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
