On Friday, September 19, 2008 at 8:00 pm, the Papatzikou Gallery in Veria inaugurates an exhibition of four young artists, Kalogianni Takis, Karakosta Costa, Belimbasaki Giannis and Parianou Maria, entitled ex-presso.
On the occasion of the beginning of the artistic exhibition activities of the period 2008-2009, the gallery presents the four young artists following a proposal by the associate professor of Engraving at the School of Fine Arts of AUTh. Manoli Giannadaki, who characteristically states: “In these four artists one can observe that Kalogiannis and Karakostas use older techniques with modern semantics, while Belimbasakis and Parianou contrast newer ones. What is certain is that all four are mainly interested in the plastic organization of their ideas with boldness and claim, like many other young people, the expansion of this art, engraving and printing.
Olga Karamitopoulou, art historian, notes: “On soft or hard surfaces, on linoleum, tin and digital memories, young artists dissect the body of reality and create new imaginary anatomies: assemble faces with wires and plugs (Takis) they reconstruct the space and use their own body to represent a love story (Giannis Belimbasakis). Their media vary: embossing (Takis Kalogiannis), gravure printing (Costas Karakostas), digital printing (Maria Parianou), and photo engraving, photoshop and photography (Giannis Belimbasakis). These anatomies are heretical, if they were a lesson they would remain in the chapters out of matter, valuable notes in the margins, for worlds that unfold beyond matter to the ends of the imagination “.
The exhibition will last until October 20, 2008 and the opening hours of the Gallery are: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 17: 00-21: 00, Wednesday, Saturday 10: 00-14: 00.
